Hi all. I inherited a 1996 Discovery. I worked with it some this weekend and determined that it needs a new fuel pump before I can do anything with it. Being new to this vehicle, I am looking for some advice.
1. Thinking about fixing it up for my Daughter who will be 16 in 11 mos. So I have some time
2. Are there reputable aftermarket parts. OEM stuff seems a little high ok alot High.
3. Looks like for around $1500.00 i can get it on the road.
4. Lastly someone said that I might could make better use of my time parting it out . I know that may be blasphemy on this site but I had to ask.

I am very mechanically inclined and look forward to the project. Let me know what you think.:hello:http://www.landroverworld.org/forums/images/smilies/hello.gif

Welcome to the forum... if just a new fuel pump is needed don't forget to change the fuel filter.

I would recommend doing the work yourself... how many miles are on it?

Just replaced them fuel pump by my mechanic. I purchased a used unit off www.car-part.com and made sure it had a 30 day warranty. Part was only $75 and shipping was $15. Total bill from shop with new lines, filter, clamps, etc: $470.00

Keep in mind for about an hours work and that same money you would have had a brand new fuel pump.
