Tiresbyweb has both the Nokian Hakkapeliitta R and Hakkapeliitta 5 in 255/55/19. Both tires are about $300 each. I had planned on going with the Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow from Tire Rack at $200 each but will probably switch to the Nokian. If what I was told is true, the Pirelli will work well in snow for about 60% of its tread life. After that it wears down to become more like an all-season tire. The Nokian will perform well in snow for its entire tread life. I have found that I only get 2 winters of good snow traction out of most winter tires I buy. If I can get a third winter out of the Nokians, then they are worth the extra $100 per tire.

I used mine for about 5 winters. I think I probably only put 30000 on them though. Plenty of tread left on them still.

Awesome choice on tires. Post an update when you get those tires exposed to some good snow. Nokian rules for winter!
