You know, the salesman that sold both of my Discoveries to me mentioned that I should drive around town in 3 all the time. I just kind of shrugged it off and have never tried it. Maybe I will and see if there is any difference in the gas mileage...

i tried it all day today and found it sound a lot cleaner, and felt less heavy. Does that sound about right?

I tried it around town today, also, and I found the rpm's staying above 2000. Is this where we want to run our Rovers?
I suppose driving around town means 35-45 mph?

so i tried it on a full tank of gas and let it run dry and got less km than when i was driving in D

Try this
Replaced middle muffler with glass pack with a flex pipe coming off of it pointing down, took off rear muffler (resonator). Still passed smog in California. Get an extra 35 miles out of a tank now. Not too noisy, actually sounds like a V8.
