I just had to replace my fuel filter and at first the mechanic said it was about $400 for the pump itself then he said it was $650. I was just wondering if this sounds right or if I was taken. All total with the seal, gasket and labor I spent $882. I also have a short in my dash lights which I found out are connected to the tail lights. He said I need a combination switch which is $283 and then another $156 for labor. Does this sound about right?

Either Call Nathan at www.discountbritishparts.com or got to http://www.roverparts.com/ and order your parts.

The light switch shouldn't cost more than 80$ IIRC and is only a 10 minute fix that I could explain via the web or over the phone. The fuel pump is around a 30 minute job if you don't run into issues, and the pump shouldn't cost more than $450.

You didn't mention what year or I could give you exact prices... but either one on a scale from 1 - 10 are no more than a 4 on the how hard with 1 being adding washer fluid and 10 being changing the engine.

My truck is a 1997. Well unfortunately I already paid for the fuel pump to be installed. But if you could instruct me on where to get the light switch and installation instructions that would be greatly appreciated.
