Hi all,
Just registered in this great forum

Since 2004 I am the proud owner of a 1999 D2 (XA Chassis VIN). Thetruck is superb. I changed radiator (it leaked), plugs (Champion platinum), wires (8mm magnecor) but...
-It hesitates around 1,500-2,000 rpm when cold, as if it misfired, no longer when temperature rises to normal.
-In 5th gear, whenever I get the slightest uphill, it loses power. If I back off the gas pedal and then use it again, there is a small increase in power. Uphills which were climbed in 5th gear, sometimes needs 4th and flooring the peda..

-T4 diagnostics read "adaptative mixture control banks 1 and 2" and misfires in 1,3,5, and 7 cylinders, all this with plugs, wires, rad and air filter, new.

-Misfire was cured unscrewing and refitting O2 sensors (bad earthing, I assume).

-But the low power and the adaptative control is still there. Coils, MAF or fuel pump?
I would go for the fuel pump. Truck has 42,000 miles and I guess that the fuel regulator or the fuel filter, which is integral in the pump and the unit has to be renewed whenever the filter is clogged

So at the price fuel pumps are, and being all of them (or nearly all) defective, I ask myself if anyone has managed to take one of these "new" apart and managed to renew filter and electric pump motor as it is explained with the older ones in the range rover forum. Fitting a Master E3270 motor was possible.

Somebody said that the filter in D2 pumps can be taken apart and replaced with a lot of care. Anyone succeeded?

Besides, I have bought an Actron CP9135 code reader. Will i work in my Euro-spec Disco2?

Thanks for your patience, congratulations for this great forum and regards,

Robert

Try cheap fix first. Remove the Platinum plugs and replace with cheap boring champion's. at less than a $1 a piece if this fixes things, then you doing well. If not we can start elsewhere.

Hi Joey,
Thanks for your mail. At present I am waiting for a secondhand MAF and pump (both in good working order, they say) so swapping MAFS is done in a couple of minutes.
I would go for the fuel pump, as used injector cleaner (not STP, but wynn's, and after this treatment things have improved, marginally but improved)

I will be updating info.

Thanks and regards,
Robert
