Hello,
I recently acquired a 1996 range rover 4.6 HSE. I notice that when I put the gear select knob into the low/offroad gears on the right side of what looks like an "H", the orange gear sign with an "X" through it starts to flash on the dashboard. this happens right when I go from neutral on the left side to neutral on the right side, or from neutral on the right to neutral on the left. But as soon as I put it in gear (on either side) the gear light goes away. It feels fine when Im driving it, theres no problem that I feel. Do you think it needs an ATF change?, or is this normal?

thanks
scott

Pretty much normal.
As for fluid changes, you should do a complete service on that old girl before you consider doing and wheeling. If you want any guidance on doing this, PM me with your tele number and I'll be glad to walk you thru what should be done.
