I drained and changed the diffs this morning, starting with the back diff. The back diff appeared to drain like I expect an oil to drain, including the colors.

When I went to the front diff, the oil came out looking gray in color.

Any ideas?

Is it possible for the swivels to leak into the front diffs????

Grey... probably had water or moisture build up. No biggy.

Swivels can leak into the diffs, if the inner axle seal is shot. There are plenty of people who run "wet" axles, where the swivel grease and diff fluid are commingled, without problem.

Drain it, refill, and be happy. Nothing is wrong with electrical stuff

I guess I will have to top off the swivels tomorrow. I one-shot them about a year ago, so everything must be in a bath of Moly grease.

Should I change the front diff more often and/or add one shot to the swivel more often?

I filled the swivels this morning with approximately 8 oz of oil each.
Last year, when I squeezed in the one shots, the amount of oil that followed was well less than a pint.
So I guess I have a very well lubricated path from the swivel to diff.

Swivels are the silver looking balls on the front axels. (tires - Brakes - Swivels)

I believe that 95 and older had oil, but should have been converted to the one shot grease. 96 and newer should have the one shot grease in them, and yes it should be changed if you have done any major water work (i.e. lots of running in high water while playing or otherwise) or I would change every 60,000 miles... but that is just me.
