From a small village in West Lothian, in Scotland. My first LR, a Discovery TD5, bought last May on eBay, which has delivered 10,000 miles of trouble free motoring since then, and which has kept me at work during the worst winter weather since those bad, old days when I was a mere boy. Previous 4x4 experience was courtesy of Suzuki - a 3 door Vitara which had an alarming propensity to spin through 360 degrees at the merest suggestion of ice on the road, and from Jeep, a 2nd generation Cherokee, which handled very nicely but which never managed to get more than 26 mpg from its arthritic 2.5TD. Currently also have a current generation Grand Vitara which can't cope with the same depth of snow as the Disco because of its silly air dam. But the Disco is superb, consistently delivering 31-32 mpg. Only one small problem - I've just managed to round off the sump plug and am having great difficulty freeing it off. Tried Bergens but too far gone so its down to a file and an adjustable spanner, and fingers crossed next weekend.

Welcome to the forum. I would recommend going out and getting yourself a new plug before you remove the old one... best to have the replacement when you start.

A chisel and hammer always works.

Thanks - yes, I have a replacement plug to hand. Also invested in a set of hexagonal sockets to avoid further rounding offs!
