Help!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a 96 Range Rover.My tailgate will not open. I am having a big Christmas party, and I have a bunch of tables stuck in there. Does any one know how to manually open the tailgate? It has slowly been working less and less, and of coarse just in time to get something in it it won't open.

Tailgate won't open

Is the Passenger side door locked? We had a similar problem and my husband did get the tailgate open by climbing back there and somehow pulling off the back tailgate pannel and manually doing something to open it. Well, I found that when the tailgate would be "locked", that the passenger front door would also be locked, so I would manually unlock it and presto, it would open just fine. Hope this helps.
