Hi All,

I feel priviledged to be part of Land Rover world.

I just got a 1995 range rover 4.6 HSE and it has some problems.

I noticed what i taught was engine rattling when i inspected it but I taught that should be normal for a 4.6 V8 compared to the 2.4 V6 mercedes im used to.

on my way back from the sale, it overheated while driving on a free motorway with the temperature fluctuating from midway to the last white line before the red for the 3hour journey

It also felt a little sluggish and when i got home, i notice white fumescoming from the exhaust

I have notdriven it again since then, it starts once, it has no fault lights on the dash, it has water in the radiator

the white smoke doesnt appear immediatelyi start it which was i never noticed when i bought it, it starts like 7 - 10 min when i left it idle when warming the car

Has anyone had this problem or an idea of what is causing the white smoke(it a light smoke, almost seems like steam and my friend said he can smell petrol from the exhaust even though I cant) and overheating?

Also, ADVISORY from last MOT says RIGHT CATALYST Rattling

Hi, I am no mechanic, but from past experience sounds like once your engine gets warmed up one of the seals is leaking. It could be a head gasket or worse, piston ring. I would have a dealer inspect it.
