Hey,

I've been reading this site for awhile and thought I would join and share info/tips on what I've been doing with our Land Rover. I am pretty new to working on Land Rovers, though now that the wife (her car) has had a few botched repair jobs -- broken abs on a brake replacement, a crappy slipping belt that I swear wasn't a Disco belt, too much oil at the cheapo oil&go shop -- I get to work on her car because she trusts me more than repair shops now  . Maybe that and because she had to bounce around in my Fj60 Landcruiser while "repairs" were being made!

The car in question is a 97 Discovery, stock except light lift w/ Bilsteins. When my wife bought the Disco I became obsessed with the UK Land Rover magazines. Awesome publications I have not seen among any other manufacturer. I have to give props to Rovers North, that is a great one too! I have learned a lot on how I work on my Fj60 from those as well.

Anyways, hope to learn more here. I already have, and hope to share tips with others to solve problems. The car can be spendy some times, but as I have learned from my Fj there are a lot of ways to save money. Mainly doing the work yourself...If you are out off highway and break down who's going to help you? And isn't that why we drive these cars, to get out off the highway?
