Yes, epiclr4, we are in a very similar place. I make a couple of extended road trips from Denver each year (Tuscon in the winter and Seattle/NW in the summer.) My NW trip this summer was nearly 5K miles. I need a vehicle which is very good on the interstate for long days as is the case with the MDX - in fact it is awesome for that. But. I also want to be able to jump off onto back roads and explore. There are plenty of opportunities to do this in Colorado and the surrounding areas. We have tried a bit of exploring with the MDX but it is borderline. I wouldn't plan to do extreme stuff with the LR4. But easy to moderate.

From what I heard, the SC V6 is very nice and I think most people are going to like it.

I will let you know how it goes. If we had something really heavy to tow I would probably just try to find a V8 from the get-go.

However, we at most would pull a small-medium sized trailer with furniture or a golf cart and I would think the SC V6 should easily be able to handle that. Plus my BMW currently has the ZF 8 speed and it really is a great transmission. So I know what I am getting there.

On top of this, with previously mentioned trips, the mileage is slightly better and I have a 40 mile commute or more every day and 400 mile trips, a couple MPG will be beneficial even with a small decrease in performance. Hopefully there is a small tune that comes out to boost power a bit. But, wait and see.

Also, just because this relates to the original topic of this thread, the image used for the LR4 on the Land Rover site isn't even changed from MY12!

Looking forward to the reviews as well... Don't think anyone has posted a personal review yet of driving the SCV6 vs. the V8. Like some of the others on here, I can't get too excited about the SCV6, but I am very interested to hear a side-by-side comparison. I'm interesting in towing performance as well. I plan on doing some towing near max capacity (7000-7500 pounds) with my LR4 in the near future, and I can't imagine doing it without a V8 under the hood.
