I just bought a 2000 Disco II from an individual. The previous owner had only one key those fob was broken. He also have two uncut fob blanks that have been programmed. I got the new keys cut today and they do open the doors but will not turn the ignition. Upon closer inspection I see that the groves on the uncut sides differ in length. On the original they stop about 1.5 cm before the fob or handle. The replacement ones groves stops about .5 cm before the fob. I'm guessing the keys he provided was for the wrong model. Is there a way to purchase just the metal blank and not the whole fob?
I was able to move the metal key part of the broke original to one of the new fobs so I have one good key for now.
