Left my key fob in my pants. (The problem with cargo pants is all those dang pockets.) Went through the "wash" cycle but fortunately not the spin/rinse cycle. Took the silver cap and the manual access key off and let it sit for 3 days. Still works.
BTW, after the three days I kept our alternate key in one of the rear storage compartments - just in case. But learned that if there is a key in the truck, anywhere in the truck, the engine will start; and the doors will lock. I sort of remembered this but it had been over a year since I had stored a spare key in the truck. I suspect some of the new owners aren't aware of this.
