Key Safe options for the LR3 FOB?

I know this has been discussed before, but I have an upcoming beach trip and I want to see if there are any new options out there.

Basically, I need a way to lock or hide the key fob while I'm parked on the sand but out in the water. (I know the FOB is waterproof, but for various reasons I prefer to keep it with the vehicle).

If you have a favorite hiding spot that you don't want to post (understood) please send me a PM! I need some ideas. I sure wish while we were owned by Ford they would have added that keycode entry option. That's convenient.

So, know any lock safes that fit our big fob and go well on the LR3?

Park it on a fake rock. Hmmm... I guess it would be hard to retrieve...

Do you keep a towel and beach bag somewhere on the beach?

Todd, you know, I tuck this fob into my wetsuit at least 3 times a week. Whatever
water sport you are into, you can always purchase a wetsuit or boardshort that
has a key teather and just take it with you. When you are done just rinse with
fresh water, dry as best you can and your good to go.

duckdive, I hear what you're saying and its good to know that it has survived salt water and waves for you! I kiteboard and am not always wearing a wetsuit...and don't have a pocket I would trust. But, as you may know sometimes we'll go on downwind trips for several miles and come back for the car later. I'm not always the one coming back to the car (if I break down along the way, its nice to have someone else be able to grab the truck). Also nice if I'm in the water already and a friend needs to get a piece of gear out of my truck. Thus, the unique problem of wanting to secure the key on the truck somewhere.

Got it ! Exchanging FOB between hands while kiteboarding. Not a good Idea.
I thought you were worried about FOB damage due to salt water.

I'm too nervous about loosing the FOB while surfing to store it in the key pocket. I got a hitch safe, but found that even after an hour of filing and reverse mounting it, that it still would not fit due to the mounting prongs being too short.

I hide my FOB under the rear bumper-not ideal. I use a Masterlock key safe on my other car, which I attach to a wheel-spoke or a small brace between the dual exhausts. I wish Land Rover offered a valet key.

My key fob has been surfing with me for over 3 years. I just stuff it in my wet suit. They are very waterproof, but they get some sand and corrosion in the snap in; button. I guess you could put it in the non-locking gas cap cover.

I find rinsing it off in fresh warm water when I get home takes some of that crunchiness
out of the button.

Mayve just get a Key Shank?

I don't recall how hard it is to operate the door locks manually, but for what it is worth, the keyshank is available by itself, appx $30.00:

That's great news, Davez. 3/18 is pretty recent which may be why we haven't heard. I have never tried opening my car with the key shank and don't know how the alarm will respond. Maybe have to give this a try as a $30 key shank (while still overpriced) is a lot easier to hide than the FOB.
