Woah very well done! Jedi-level wiring skills you have. So, obviously not your first rodeo. I’m thinking about some camp scene lights as well. If I end up with more than one switch, your method is the way to go. Dare I ask how much of the center section needs to be ripped apart to delete whatever the ashtray mechanism consists of? Cheers. Oh and sorry op for high jack.

You'll need to pop off the gear selector and radio plates to remove the ash tray. I got a universal 6 gang rocker panel and added switches. It's about a 95% near perfect fit, 5% was to trim off just a bit of the rocker switch panel to fit properly.
