I have an '04 Disco SE and I'm trying to hard-wire my GPS with a kit I can plug directly into my radio via the ISO connectors and I desperately want to hide the wires.

Anyone know how to safely remove the long, thin black vent that is on the top of the dash without snapping it and/or losing the clips?

I tried yesterday (with the stereo removed) and couldn't figure it out. Or any advice with regard to fishing wires down defroster vets would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help!

The best way to do this - IMHO - is the way that I have done satellite radio in two of them now.

You will need to mount the unit on the dash - up close to the binnicle that houses the gauges. If you remove that cover (two screws under the gauges when you tilt the wheel down, and then two clips that you have to kinda yank UP to release toward the back), you can run wires anywhere in the dash. Fashion a fish line out of a coat hanger, and you will notice that from the holes in the recess that the cluster sits in, you can fish wiring to right behind the radio. You can also run them behind the center console/CDL shifter using a longer coat hanger in case you need to run power to the adapter there. Then, take your excess wiring, and coil it behind access panel on the drivers side...

If you do it properly, you will only see a small bit of wire coming from the binnicle into the unit. It's very clean.

Good luck!

Thanks for the tip! I'm going to take a look at it this weekend.
