I think you know one thing, but you are turning it into something else and don't know much about car retailing. LR won't let a dealer flip a loaner, for one thing. Second, a loaner would need to be titled and plated and probably proven as such to the manufacturer's finance company - it can't also be inventory for sale. A loaner also can't carry a dealer plate and remain on MSO (pre-title manufacturer certificate of origin). If your car is still untilted, sold from MSO, then it's brand new.

Have you seen any of these cars you have been supposedly buying for a week and would pick up on Monday? Did you see the build date? It will be many months old, given that 08 production ended long ago and then transport takes some weeks or more to where ever you are.

If you are picking it up on Monday, I wonder how you continue to question the price. Seems like you already made your deal and now have buyer's remorse.

Maybe you need to buy used cars. You pose odd questions about new ones!

Its never finalized until you sign the loan agreement, whether it be a car, or a home. I've purchased about 25 new vehicles in the last 30 years and I understand the game. I don't like dishonesty, and when a dealer profits on hidden monies.

I guess I will find out today if this vehicle was titled to the dealer, and if so will walk away from the deal, regardless if this vehicle was never put into use.

I think you'd have a hard time purchasing anything at all if you didn't like "hidden profits"; this attitude also kills American engineuity - ignoring the details of what is new/used titled/MSO'd, if the dealer can find a better way to deliver a product to a customer, thus earning some extra cash while providing no difference in price or service to the customer, why shouldn't they be able to reap extra profit? Isn't this how business is done in any market? If a dealer finds a way to save $500 a vehicle on shipping (I'm sure if there was a way, it would already be done!), but still charge the same amount as the guy down street, is the dealer somehow required to provide a discount? This is effectively your argument for a rebate...

BTW - if you are just going to ask, and you don't trust the dealership anyway (who would lose their license for selling a used car as new), what makes you think you'll find out the correct answer to this question?

I just cancelled the deal. I also received responce from LRCG, that they are no longer accepting new credit apps. This brings up a red flag. How can they advertise 0% rate on new 2008 Land Rover's and then close there doors to new applications? Makes me wonder if they will continue sales in the US too much longer.

Yes they will continue sales. LRCG changed hands from Ford Credit to I believe it's now Chase? You may have been caught in the middle of the change. There is no red flag, and perhaps a different vehicle would be a better choice for you? The dealer is in business to make money, and I'm sure you were already getting a good price on the LR3 as most of them are marked well below sticker right now for MY08, so questioning what the dealer paid for the truck doesn't make sense to me. You can tweak the price here or there, but don't expect "mega" savings off the already discounted sticker (as high as 15-17k) price on new stock.

15-17K. The dealers where I went only offered 8-10K.

Well perhaps the demand is higher in your area. And in fact 10k off the sticker is still a damn good deal.

10K off sticker is only 5K. There is a 5K markup between MSRP and cost. What I belive is happening is that they are giving me much less for my trade than its worth and using that additional money.

Hey Ron...go buy a GMC Envoy. This is an LR3 Enthusiasts/owners forum; not dealer nit-pickers who question their own choice to the point that they can't execute a decision and move on.

I'm starting to think you're my brother-in-law in disguise.
