I am still delighted with my LR3, but am going to replace it as I do every year or two.

So - an all-new LR3, a one-year-old Range Rover Sport, or a new Range Rover Sport.

Your suggestions, recommendations and opinions?

Same dilemma that I find myself facing. LOVE the LR3 and my friends own a RRS so while the interior is much nicer, the RRS now feels too small. I've grown accustomed to the roomy interior and tall stance of the LR3! However, the RRS has some updates to the interior for 2008 incl. air-cooled front seats, improved stereo, and a nice new red-tan int. color scheme and revised fascia:

Decisions, decisions. I think I'll probably wait and buy the 2008/2009 LR3 (possible facelift) in mid 2008. Then the real wait begins for the 2011/2012 all-new Range Rover. Should be spectacular with Land Rover and Range Rover branching off, 1000 lbs reduction (aluminum ala Jaguar), a possible diesel/electric engine, hard drive incl. Nav system. Can't wait for more rumors and spy shots to pop up of that beast! Then the dilemma continues with the all-new LR3 (LR4) debuting in 2012. And on and on it goes. Just glad to hear that no matter which vehicle you choose, you're sticking with the Rover family. Good luck!

Simple solution, buy one for you (Sport?), buy the LR3 for your wife.

I bought my LR3 about 4 months ago and really flip flopped between it and a RRS. The RRS is much nicer on the inside but gives up a lot of utility. I also didn't feel like spending >$70K on something that was going to see mostly bad weather. I was looking for more of a road warrior. Unless you go supercharged it drives no better.

As it turns out I've enjoyed the LR3 (my first Rover product) much more than I thought I would. If I had it to do over I'd buy a year old Range Rover Supercharged and get the even nicer level of finish and some extra size. The RRS is very cool but is too much of a "tweener" for me. Good news is, you can't go wrong.

Where do you live? Colorado maybe? I am in Toronto - ditto bad weather and salt.

I am tending towards another LR3, really. The RRS is indeed much better inside but small. I do not like small.

I'm in Boulder.

The RRS size was a killer for me. 5500lbs or so and not much room behind the seats just didn't bolt up even if the luxury was great. That's why I'd buy a big one if I had a do over. With either RR I'd feel a little guilty with the salt and so on in TO.

Indeed.. I wash the LR3 daily.

I am now tending to think a new LR3, as well. Luxury is essential but size is a non-negotiable.

MW, I own both ... LR3 is my daily driver & RRS is a garage vehicle that my wife mainly drives... The LR3 is by far more comfortable and roomy than RRS. Interior appointments on RRS are much more esthetically pleasing, but they do not provide any additional comfort by being so. The LR3 has a quieter & smoother ride than the RRS. The RRS has a sportier feel to the drive and handling, but I guess that may just be from sound of exhausts & maybe some slight changes in suspension, since both vehicles are built on the same frame. No doubt I like both, but if I really had to choose between one or the other I would have to go with the LR3 for overall ability & functionality. No doubt, the RRS turns more heads, but at the end of the day what real gain is that...Although my wife does look even sexier driving it...

I'm really surprised to hear you say the LR3 is quieter and rides better. I guess it's the longer wheel base and maybe the tires with some additional sidewall. Thanks for the post from someone who knows.
