LR4 Electric Parking Brake (EPB) Services and Replacement

The EPB is an integral part of the vehicles driving capability. Hill descent, Cruise control, even some of the alternate driving options in the Terrain response system require the EPB. Should you disconnect it, these systems will not work.

To keep it working, use it.

Alas, just using it does not ensure longevity. Mine failed 4yrs ago and is still failed. Had I been better informed at the time, I would have made sure rear brake shoes were correctly serviced. Incorrect cable tension seems to be main reason unit overwinds, shrieks like a banshee and then fails.
As ever, stupidly of making a simple EPB electronic and installing unit in an impossible to access location is a curse for LR4 owners.
