I sometimes debate doing this, and I've done some research but havent found that much that's conclusive. I was going to post this in other threads people had, but I didn't want it to seem like I was bombing their threads, and since I've just got info on parts compatibility, maybe its best for to be its own thread for people to find.

Since I have a 2016 LR4, this is focused mostly on compatibility with that model. I have included earlier LR4 info when I've found it in my research. I know some stuff is compatible, but IDK how much is. I've been told by others on here that the listings in the parts info searcher on Rover Dealer Parts isn't perfect. So maybe there's more that's compatible than what they show.

Best I've found here's the short list of what's needed.
- In Dash Control Panel
- 2 Speed Transfer Case
- Locking Rear Diff
- Rear HD Axles
- Transfer Case Module
- Differential Module
- ? 2 Speed Transfer Case Harness
- ?Differential harness

(Updated as of 22 Nov 25)

I've found very little with regard to the wiring side of things. I know there's some compatibility with other JLR models, but how much seems to vary greatly from model to model. So I've included what I've found in case its helpful for someone.

In Dash Control Panel (2014-2016 L319)
EH22-14B596-AB
Early LR4:

AH22-14B596-AC (Early L319)

2 Speed Transfer Case (LR089531, LR052611)
CPLA-7K780-BA (Pulled from a 2016 L319)
CPLA-7K780-BA (Pulled from a 2014 L405)
I've also found these that visually appear identical:
cpla-7k780-ab (Pulled from a 2013 L320)
4H22-7K780-CA (Pulled from a 2010 L320)

Locking Rear Diff (LR050892 LR050896) (LR017322 on 2010-2013 LR4s)
EH22-4W063-BA (Pulled from a 2016 L319)
AH22-4W063-EC (pulled from a 2011 L319)
I've also found these that visually appear identical:
7H42-4W063-EC 2007-2009 L322

Transfer Case module (LR053307)
I have not found one from a 14-16 L319 yet to get a part number
I've found these but idk if either would be correct
DPLA-7H417-BA
EH22-7H417-AA (European Diesel)
AH42-7H417-AE (2013 L319)

Diff Module (LR083860 LR019427 LR034525 LR043140 LR057232) (13-16 L320,L319,L405)
EX53-4C118-AS (Listed in this Post)
I've also found:
9W83-4C016-AD (listed as 10-13 L320)
9W83-4c118-ba (listed as 10-13 L320)
cpla-4c118-ba (listed as 10-24 L320)
hx53-4c118-AA/AD (10-24 L405)

Differential Harness: (EDIT: After further research I'm not exactly sure if this is a part of the main body harness but can be disconnected or if its something else.)
BH32-14M401-DB (2011 L319)
CH22-14M401-DB (2014 L319)
Others:
BH32-14M401-BC (2011 L320)
AH42-14M401-CB? (2012 L405)
DK62-14M401-CE (2014 L405)
GPLA-14M401-BB (2016 L405)

8 Speed Transmission harnness with 2 Speed Transfer case: LR053087 or LR053088
L319:
BH32-7C078-AA (2010-2013)
EH22-7C078-EC (2014-2016) (I think this is without the Transfer case, but I'm not 100% sure.)

Right Rear HD Axle
LR072071 LR047285

Left Rear HD Axle
LR072063 LR047284

Harness with the Rear Axle Locker plugs:
This is a bit more complicated. It seems this is integrated into the main body harness.
Main Harness w/Locking: LR071565 (maybe also LR071540)
Non Locking: LR071566
Unknown: LR071567, LR071568
2010-2013 L319 have the following harnesses; LR015852, LR021136, LR029812, for vehicles with a locking diff.

This sounds like a lot of time and money, have you tried finding one with the HD package? I see them come up on BAT... There's one up there right now

I've never been able to find an LR4 in the configuration I really wanted. I wanted a 15 or 16 model, preferably a 16. My friend had one that was close to what I wanted, so when he was thinking of getting rid of it I jumped on his. Color was a big determining factor. If I was going to get an LR4, it was going to be one of three colors: Montalcino Red, Aintree Green, or Loire Blue. In that order. My friends was the Montalcino Red so that worked. The only things it didn't have that I wanted was heated seats/steering wheel which is easy enough to retrofit, and the HD package.
I do not plan on going crawling, but I do get a lot of snow where I live, so it'd be nice to have the 2-speed transfer case. There's times when we'll get 1 to 2 ft of snow during a storm, and I'd feel a bit more sure of myself on the road if I had the HD pack.

Also.. I've always enjoyed working on my VWs; doing engine swaps. down to the frame rebuilds, etc. So I'd enjoy doing the work... so long as I know what parts to get.

I looked for a long time, everyday for probably 4 months since I had a remote job. Then I bought it out of state. Long story short $30k all-in fully sorted. I had to have the V8, 4X4. The rear camera is not a deal breaker since it doesn't respond reliably anyway, I had thought it was a must have but it sucks because its late all the time. Not having the 2-speed transfer case would be hard.

The rig is on another level in 4L. I was just at a motocross park yesterday in the rain and people were honking when I was offroading through a pit area. We had rain, a lot of rain. Its a public area and people bring their toy haulers with dirt bikes, ATV's and such and camp in RV's.

There is an area that has a drop down into the earth and then trails lead out of the pit area. One trail leads up a hill so after dropping in then you drive up out of the pit on the wall and up onto the hill side and finally cresting over a burm that drops down. I've tried it in 1st 4H and it won't climb it without lugging. Its super steep dirt bike angles. Same with reverse. 4L in reverse I can back that **** right up a hillside no probem. Its a lot of fun off roading and a new hobby!

For the HD package I heard that the LR3 diff can be used on the LR4 and ARB makes a locker for it. The bearings wear quicker in the LR3's though and the LR4's are different diffs. I plan to get a front locker and will put the compressor by the ABS unit. It does OK but it does slip and that wears out the trail too. I think I can flog it harder w/a front locker too and listen to the engine rev in the RPM range. The tracks it leaves are solid for the rears and then washboards where the fronts are.

After digging around the internet for an hour or so today, I did find some harness info which I'll update in the main post.

It does appear that the 2 speed transfer case uses a different trans harness than the 1 speed. I was kinda hoping the plug was just capped off. But thankfully this is just a sub-harness and can be replaced easy enough.

As for the harness with the Rear Axle Locker plugs... that's a bit more complicated. That it seems is integrated into the body harness.

Apparently they're still available through the dealership network! ;)

(NO, I'm not actually buying one new)

The problem I'm facing now is similar to above, converting the Catalogue/Retail Part Number with the Engineering/Production Part Number that will be labeled on the part that a Salvage Yard will have access to.

Land Rover must have an EPC, but I'm guessing it's only for dealers and approved 3rd party shops.
