I have a '96 Discovery and realize that yes its not meant for speed by any means. However, I am curious as to my options for upgrading my power so that when I have the a/c on I don't feel like half my engine is being redirected into giving me cold air. Any cost effective ideas would be great.

Also, I do put premium gas, have the fuel filter changed regularly, and just had the fuel injectors (i think thats what it was) cleaned due to rust and what not.

4.1.1 gearing will do wonders.... not the cheapest, but the fastest results.

Don't be fooled into believing that the Discovery is not made for speed. I have one that I can at will, push past 220km (136miles/hr) with ease (haven't pushed my luck to go higher, as the cops are unforgiving here in OZ).
But joey is correct. You could also fit an aftermarket chip and tweak the air intake.

I have no problem getting my '96 up to speed very quickly, and it's bone stock, matter of fact I have a really hard time keeping it under 90 MPH on the highway. Of course, I have the manual trans, so that may make quite a difference.

So this 4.1.1. gearing ratio - what are the $$ numbers? I am willing to put a few hundred into this little project if I can see significat results. How about an aftermarket chip? Where to I get them and how much?
