no engine cranking when hot

Hi all have had this issue a couple of times, i have a 95 discovery 3.9 v8 running petrol/LPG the first was after a longer trip around 1 hr driving time & the second was on a hotter day, both times the car was stopped quick trip into the shop & when i went to start the car the engine will not crank over at all, everything looks fine inside eg all dash lights work, can hear the fuel pump/gas syastem kick in but no crank, both thimes have left the car sit for 20-30 mins & then it starts & runs fine

Either battery or Starter... both can be checked at most autoparts stores.
