Hi again, just bought a 96 Range Rover with 80,420 miles on it.....just wondering what the type and amount of oil I should use on this particular vehicle. Also, how often does it need to be changed? Thanks for any and all info.
The temp. in your area will determine the weight oil to use. Generally a 5 or 10W/30 is great for the winter and a 10W/40 for the warmer months.
Try and use good oil filters like a Mobil 1-301 or a K&N 3001 for better results.
Buy 6 quarts of oil, installing 5.5 then run the engine for a couple minutes and recheck the dip stick to see if any more is needed.
I forgot to add, I change my oil every 6k to 8k miles depending on how often I drive it. Mileage will vary, some say every 3k, I have gone as long as 10k between oil changes, but this is me.
Most vehicles require an oil change every 3000 miles. This is usually a relatively painless and inexpensive procedure. There are numerous “quick” oil change stations that specialize in the no-appointment, fast-food like oil change. Even on a busy day, getting an oil change may only take half an hour.
Thanks for the info given.....husband will be doing the oil changes so I don't have to worry about the "fast food" type oil places. We live in Florida so the 10/30 would probably be best since we don't really get cold here
