Oil lamp lit at idle only

Just had my discoII in for service, came out missing exahust bolts, and now the oil pressure lamp is lit at idle. just in for the 50K service(oil change?) Now the dealer says poss oil pump trbl. Not sure why bolts missing from exhaust. i replaced the bolts/studs and ordered a oil pressuer sending unit. I'm not completely convinced that the trbl is w/ the oil pump. have not yet hooked up a gauge to measuer the pressure. but no ticks or noise from under the hood (since the exhaust bolts/studs been replaced). any input on a 2003 DiscoII w/50k oil pressure lamp lit at idle only. was nearly perfect before it went to get service, now....not so much!!!

There's been earlier threads concerning a similar issue that linked this problem to a clogged oil pickup tube. Apparently the screen at the end of the tube can get partuially clogged up with sludge. This may be a reason the oil light is coming on only while at an idle. It may be as simple as dropping the oil pan and cleaning it out.

Just a thought. Try searching this forum and I'm sure you'll come up with some good details.

I've seen the other postings about the sludge issue. But most of them were from around 2004, thought there might be some new info. As a side note the LR service rep said "unofficialy" that there were some issues reguarding Oil Pressure in a somewhat recent service bullitin. but would deny that he said anything if i said it came from him, told me to "unload" the car since it's out of warranty. I'll look into cleaning the pan and oil pick-up tube replacing the oil pressure sending unit and praying to the Car Gods. thanks
