ok, son's LR4. live 4 hrs away. His job sends him out by air for weeks at a time. He just returned today from 6 weeks away to a totally dead battery again. This happened last time he traveled and put in a new battery. He was able to have triple A jump it but they had to use jump pack and jumper cables in tandem to get it started. The car is fine as long as he is driving it every few days but seems as though if is sits for a couple of weeks or more totally drains the battery. Not sure where to start to find the culprit so anyone know what the typical ones are on the lr4?

6 weeks should be no problem, I have repeatedly on several LR4's left them for 3 months with no issues.

It's been a while since I made this video, but I do have a drain current table in there at 19:24.
LR4 should be <20mA.

All I can really offer is the standard advice,
Turn everything off by hand - don't depend on the computer.
And double check that all the lights, interior and exterior are off before you leave it.

My Nissan Maxima had unknown current draw that I never did find.
One time the CD changer went nuts when parked at the airport - apparently it turned itself on and kept switching the 10 CD changer in an endless loop - dead battery after that trip.

Shot in the dark, but…Where was his key fob? IIRC, having it in or too near the vehicle makes the computers stay awake.

For similar reasons, I've installed a solar panel from Cascadia 4x4 that keeps the battery topped off when my LR4 is parked for prolonged durations.

Had a similar issue with a parasitic drain that took a while to diagnose. New main and aux batteries, all ground points checked and cleaned, alternator output okay, sleep mode engaging correctly, etc - finally traced to a bad starter motor. Hope this helps
