I was sitting in I70 traffic today and got tired of the ill fitting beauty cover on the steering column. After removing it, I noticed that there was a wiring terminal that was connected. It is white and one of the several wires attached is orange and has a small light attached to it. Being that it was unplugged I debated reconnecting it. I did thinking this may be the cure for my cruise control failure. It was not! After swimming RAVE I still cannot determine what this connecting is associated with. Anyone have an idea?

Welcome to the forum.... Pics?

Also what year is your Disco? Have you check vacuum lines? Also on D2's if you have a brake light out cruise will not work.

Duh, I should have give more info. The truck is a 96 D1/ The connectors are white with 6 pins each. Connector 1 appears to go back into the steering wheel. The colors are Purple, Red/Black, white, Purple, Blue and Orange. Connector 2 has Pink, Purple/Lt blue, Purple, orange, White/Black. Two wires are connected to a light. As soon as I remember what I did with my charger for the Nikon I will get a pic.

The truck runs IMHO great. Without running the AC and driving like I have sense I have been avg 15-16 mixed roadways, 17-18 Highways. Not bad being the last D1 I had avg 7mpg...

I knew a LR nutcase in Cincinnati he did the work on my 94, I will be damned if i can remember his name.

96 cruise will normally be vacuum related.

Joey, Thanks for the help....So do you think this disconnected connector is part of the cruise control system?

Ok I connected the connector, started up and drove to work...the issue that came up was when I attempted to remove the key. I could turn the truck off but could not move the key any further than position 1. Unplugged and the key could be removed...strange this is

Ok... sounds like the sensor for the park position switch is bad. That has nothing to do with cruise that I know of...

Joey you are my hero...I am not so worried about cruise control....It is a luxury not a necessity.. I was more curious as to what the damn connector was for. But thinking about it I do remember wiggling the shift lever and getting it unlocked. but thanks for your help.
