In Norcal I'm replacing all brakepads, sensor wire and rotors for our 2005 LR3, not using the dealer and it's costing $1,500. Got 60k out of the initial rotors, wondering if this a decent price?

My gut tells me dealer would be a lot more.

Thanks,

To have this done at my local dealer is approximately $1000-1100 generally speaking. $1,500 seems a bit high to me. You can order the parts yourself at http://www.roverparts.com/ and save yourself some cash usually.

There's another thread about this if you do a quick search, but $1,200 should be about the max you should pay. If you get it for less, god bless you. 60K is pretty good mileage on those brakes considering other's experiences. It's a heavy truck

Sure would be nice if the dealers would at least have a consistent over-pricing policy from dealer to dealer. There is NO WAY I would ever pay the dealer what amounts to 800-1100 in labor for what would be about an hour job for them.

if the brakes dont pulse or viberate when braking you can probably get away w/o changing the rotors I do a crude check with a straight edge and look for warping It has worked well for me for the last 10 years
