Anybody know anything about a recall notice on 2005-2006 LR3 and RRS vehicles regarding the "airbag wiring to the rotary complex?" I just got a call from my dealer saying it's a voluntary thing and I'm guessing it can wait until next service.

Let them know that the NHTSA is very interested in hearing about airbag failures and you would appreciate a "good will" repair of this item, considering the safety issue it creates. My car is currently at the dealer -- I don't have my VIN # with me, but I took possession of my 2005 LR3 on Dec. 4, 2004. I just took the car in for an airbag light being on. The dealer is telling me that the clockspring broke, but that it is not the recall problem--so I need to pay $500. Seems fishy to me. Thoughts?
CUSTOMER REIMBURSEMENT PROCESS:
If a customer indicates that they have previously paid for a replacement of the rotary coupler for this defect (vehicle out of warranty), a copy of the repair invoice must be produced as proof of the repair. The Retailer must directly reimburse the customer and a claim for recovery of this cost should be made using the related damage procedure.
