I have a 1999 Disco I that just turned 100,000 miles. I take very good care of my beast, and just yesterday had $1800.00 of work rebuilding the front ball joints, and packing all the bearings, etc. However, I still have the same vibration I had when I brought it to the 4X4 center for repair.
Symptoms seem to be a vibration which increased as power is added, when in netural, no vibration coasting without power, no vibration, letting up on gas while driving, no vibration, but add power and I get vibration. It seems to get louder, and stronger as speed in increased.
Had the U-Joints check, and two people have indicated the rear joint on the front shaft is showining signs of slight movement, but dealer claims this is not the problem. He says it is the engine and lifters which do not allow power to increase correctly, yet the engine idles like new, and reves without a hitch, so what am I missing?
Confused, and getting poorer based on repair guesses...
