Hi! just joined. I have a -98 disco 1 and was reluctant to buy it back in -01 but
my wife loved it soo... and over 8 years later it's been a very good vehicle for us.
It still has a very solid feel at 140k, something that a jeep or explorer probably
wouldn't have.
Now, the engine and abs lights are on and according to shop diagn.
it needs both "downstream oxygen sensors" @ $ 790,00 plus tax installed.
Problem 2 is that it needs right front abs sensor @ 650,00 plus tax installed.
the brake/brakes do "tap" occassionly.

I've seen aftermarket sensors online and I would like to get them wire socket ready. I got moderate skills. Thank's for any advice!!

I replaced my o2's 3 years ago with NTK's @ $42ea.
The wiring color code was the same, I just cut my old connectors off, and soldered on the new - job done in a couple of hrs. (I didn't hurry)

Your abs sensor malfunction may be an unseated sensor.
tap in to re-seat.

I suggest a free download of the repair cd - search "free rave cd"

It covers more than you need for LR repair.

Thank's for the advice guys. I'm about to degrease the engine compartment as well
as underneath and have a closer look, maybe paint thinner will cut all that grease, ha ha.
Are there 2 or 4 O2 sensors btw?

It will have (4) - (2) ea side - (1) b/4 & (1) after ea cat

I just checked - the ntk's I bought were now $88 - the p&p were $100+ as joey said.

I'd do the p&p

When the shop diagnos says downstream sensors I suppose they refere to
the rear ones. Do they take metric and what size btw? I got slight surface rust even
in CA. I sprayed wd40 but they do seem pretty stuck. Are the sensors the exactly
the same for front and rear?

on your 98 both sensors are the same... the rears just tell you if the cats are working.

I am pretty sure they are the small metric ones... basically 2 major sizes of heads on O2 sensors... LR use the small ones.

Yeah they're tight, when reinstalling you might smear A SMALL DAB of antiseize on threads

don't get any on sensor area.
