I recently read a post about resetting the service engine light. I removed the drivers side kick panel and removed the red emissions box and put a small allen wrench in the make connection on the tabs.

AND IT WORKED!! The Service Engine light went out. Awesome!!

Then 5 minutes later the Check Engine light comes on and I got a printout from Autozone that says. "Catalyst Below Threshold"

What have I done?

Nothing, just clear the code and don't worry about it... the SEL is for the 85k emissions check and that is it. If you remove the red box vice just fixing it, then it will never come on again. Other wise in 85k it will come on again.

Thanks a bunch. I had autozone clear the code. and it hasn't come back yet. if it does the red box is toast.

Thanks Joey

the kick panel is the panel which is on the right hand side of the passenger floorboard. the panel opposite the outside of the vehicle. Remove the cardboard type material under the glove compartment. then the side kick panel by removing the screws and you will find the elusive red box that is causing all the trouble.

When I reset mine the service engine light went off but now I get a low catalyst check engine light that keeps coming back.

Good Fortune to you.

Just to let you know, instead of reseting the red box, you can just remove it and never worry about it again.
