Simple Questions

A few simple ones for you guys:

- When you vehicle is turned OFF, does the garage opener on the mirror work? Mine doesn't.

- When the vehicle is running and you get out, can you lock the doors with the button or remote? I can't, it just beeps at me.

- I know I can find this in the manual, but I always forget - does the vehicle have electronic service reminders? Will I get a notice that I'm due for an oil change/scheduled maintenance?

The garage opener is disabled on purpose. If the truck is outside and someone busts a window open, they can't open your garage.

It will tell you when it needs service, but you should pay attention to mileage and whatnot anyway. The service light isn't just mileage based.

My BMW is like that too. A bit annoying because the car has to be running. It won't work even with the key in and everything else operational.

Most cars will not let you use remote locking with the car running. Safety, and in Europe, environmental reasons as well. That is the reason why no european car offers remote start.

The car honks when you try to lock it because either a door is ajar or your second set of keys are in the car.

By the way, I wish the LR4 would let you continue to keep the rig running and lock the doors. Scenario: I want to quickly run into a store and get some cash out of an ATM but keep the car running with the doors locked. My BMW 2013 335i with Comfort Access allowed me to do this and it was quite a nice convenience. The failsafe on the BMW was that it would not let you drive the vehicle off if the key was not sensed inside the vehicle, I recall the BMW would ding "Remote key not found / drive disabled". something like that.

Good taste in vehicles...My other ride is a 2012 BMW F10 (550i). Picked it up in Munich last summer. I wish LR did a Euro Delivery program.

I almost opted for the 550i but went with the LR4 instead. The 335i is retired, not really practical given my lifestyle.
