Damn its hard, I need to buy a really short screwdriver. Only got one of the rears on for now. Doesn't seem to fit that great. But while under the car, I see that there are big heavy weights under the bumper that swings on axis. What's that for? Some kind of pendulum?

Also, so much for a unibody design, I see that there is a full length box steel frame that runs under the whole car. That's where all the weight is, that and the pedulums. The rear drive axles were already rusted, but that might be normal?

Will buy a stub screw driver tomorrow and try to finish it up. You guys weren't kidding about the cryptic instructions.

Your LR3 has a unibody mounted on top of a chassis. Thats how it can perform so well both on and off road and also why it weighs so much!
The weights under the car are mass dampers which eliminate a troublesome body vibration problem. They are quite common on many vehicles, but often hidden in fenders etc.

Texas911, what I used for a short screwdriver that came in handy, was one of those right angle ratchet screwdrivers... you can buy them from Sears or Home Depot for like 5 bucks.

Got some tools and just finished it up. The fronts were super easy, it just uses the bolts you take out. One error in the instructions, my fronts weren't screws but bolts, easy enough, I used an 8mm socket wrench and it was a breeze. My multi angle screw driver for the rear helped getting that dang bracket in. Looks great, highly recommend this upgrade. Now just waiting for the stick on side molding to come in.

I'm now thinking I need the cross bars to complete the "look". Cheers.

Mud flaps?

When you say "mud flaps" do you mean the cheap (cheap in construction not price) plastic extentions that break off when struck by an obsticle on trail, or MUD FLAPS, "flaps" being the key word? Man, do they ever need a true mud flap for the LR3 and surly someone can come up with something much more functional than the OEM's. Just my opinion, but what a waste of money for a piece of molded plastic.:argh:

right on rooty. i had taken delivery with them installed. but i just took the front off and will take off the rears as soon as i get that stubdriver.

was too lazy to reverse and go around one of those concrete wheel-stoppers (dont know what they are called) in a parking lot one day, so decided to go over it with one side tyres. sure enough as the front tyre landed on the other side of the stopper i heard the noise of the "flap" hitting that concrete thing. and i had gone over it really slow. thats when i decided they needed to come off.

i like the look of the flaps but they are very impractical even in urban environments (not that i should make it a habit of driving over these things in parking lots but you get the point.)

i love the softness of the ones on the older discos, but then i dont know if the softness would be able to retain the current and matching wheel arch trim design.

I like the mudflaps. It's not like they are all that necessary anyway. I am offroad all the time and mine are intact.
