My first major newbie question....the search didn't yield much for me so here it goes. Is the dealer the only place to order a spare key?

Thanks,
Terry

no...a good locksmith can make you spare keys I have had 2 extras made that work fine...use ILCO brand. If you are looking for a spare keyless entry then it has to be programmed at the dealer unless it is a 94-95, beyond that it is dealer.

Ebay sells the blanks, but Cole's right in that a locksmith can make you one. Have them cut a couple while they're at it, just in case.

Thanks for that info, I write software for a security company and we use a lot of locksmiths so I called a trusted one and he is going to hook me up for 2 bucks a key! That makes me very happy......

be careful with the ebay keys with alarms, i got burned on one recently for my dII. If your going to purchase the key with alarm make sure it has that little white sticker on the back so the dealer can program it
