Suspension goes into Extended mode when lowering.

When I attempt to go into access mode, the front of the vehicle will lower and then extended mode will engage. If i quickly press access mode again it'll finally go down into access mode.

I'm also starting to get more suspension faults.

Any solutions (height sensors, compressor, etc)

hmmm, I believe if it detects an obstruction that will cause that as well. Is it clean underneath?

Some users report:
1. squashed air pipe to the front after having the rear air con pipes replaced.
2. height sensor fault possibly or just needs re-calibrating?
3. compressor and / or air dryer

If you have Nav, put it on the 4x4 screen and watch the wheel height indicators, see if one is going bonkers.

Yes it's clear underneath. It does it everytime no matter where I'm at.

What year is the car? My first thought is a sensor, the sensor arm action does start to get a little stiff over the years and could make the car think it is not going down fast enough.

2006. The front lowers all the way down before the back attempts to move. I can't remember if it did that before the extended mode problems.

My 06 has always been fairly even on the lowering although maybe a little faster in the front due to the weight.

I had a buddy have a shock go bad in the back and it would stick and not want to go down easy causing extended mode.

My 06 sensors all were getting pretty stiff causing slow reaction to height changes so I had them all replaced recently.

I am thinking sensor or shock.

That shock is a good point, harder to test though. I recently replaced all my OEM dampers with Koni. At 104k I felt they old ones were a bit mushy. The new ones are nice, and a little less hard off roading. Very harsh if you hit the right pothole though. I installed new seal kits as well, and the raising and lowering is about even, but much much snappier than it used to be. I figure the OE ones are probably good for about 100k depending on how you drive it, but you have to be the judge of that.

Back on the topic though... sorry to digress.

If it has NAV you can put it on 4x4 screen and watch for anything unusual on the screen with the wheels. If it is a bad sensor it should show as one wheel way out of whack.

Have you ever replaced the suspension air compressor on this LR3?

I was having many of the same issues, and more, and everything disappeared following replacing the compressor.
