I just wanted to thank everyone here who contributes so much. I've been hanging around here for the past couple months and have benefitted greatly from the shared knowledge of many of you. Based on the info here I've Seafoamed everthing in my stable; induction, crankcase and fuel.
Lately my 00 DII has been having pretty severe vibrations between 35-45 mph independent of rpms. Had the wheels balanced this past Friday with no improvement. I had read the various threads about the double cardon joints on the front propshaft so, yesterday, I went under the truck to take a look. UH OH!!!! One joint looked like it was ready to explode out of the yoke! I guess at 94K miles that's not entirely unexpected. Now, $40 in parts later, I have new serviceable joints in place. Our mechanic here at the plant installed them during his lunch break in exchange for the promise of a lunch in the near future.
Now I have to go find some bolts and nuts to connect back to the differential flange. The originals were so soft I rounded off the heads and ended up cutting the nuts off with my new air hammer and compressor the fiancee' bought for my birthday.
I also went ahead and changed to Mobil1 5W-40 synthetic instead of my usual Castrol GTX 10W-40.
Thanks again everyone, your shared knowledged is greatly appreciated by one who does not enjoy $100/hr dealer labor rates!
