I am new here not sure if this is the right place to ask this question.
I have been looking at a 2008 LR3 and really interested in one. I have always wanted a Land Rover, its my dream SUV.

I am in canada, but the car was imported from Florida to here by the previous owner.
I test drove the car yesterday, and it was quite good. What are some common problems I should check for?

I am planning on getting a carfax and have it inspected by a local Land Rover service shop.

I am quite scare of owning one if the cost of ownership is really high.

thanks.

If you're in Calgary, that sounds like a vehicle that I almost bought until I found it had been sold at auction in Florida with frame damage :hmpf:...it pays to run a CARFAX report! Feel free to PM me if you think we're talking about the same vehicle.

Cheers,
Mike

The carfax might indicate how it was serviced over it's life, probably not. There is certainly no shortage of used ones on the market at good prices. You can expect to take care of some items, like everyone else, depending on how many miles it has, and what has already been done.

If they cannot produce the service records, or get sketchy on the carfax, service records, etc. then be skeptical.

If I had the budget, I would have traded mine in, when the dealer quoted me 5k for Differential repairs. However, as it turned out, I was able to repair rebuild for much less. I would suggest, you hook up with an experienced owner, in your area who knows what to look for. As it turns out, i'm pretty happy with the vehicle, so i'm glad I got it fixed up, it's like new now.

I am not saying not to buy, but if you can point out problems which need to be corrected, you can beat them down in the price, and then effect your own repairs after the sale.

Good Luck!!
