Cheap clamps are removed with a pair of pliers, then pull the hoses off. Replace the hoses and install good clamps (screw on type), but you will have to remove the 4 screws or nuts (can't remember) and remove the butterfly to get to the bottom piece that will need the gasket changed. While you have the butterfly off, clean it and the intake behind it as best you can since I am sure it will be nasty and black.

When I did this last I did not remove the linkage, just flip up the intake and work where it is.

I agree on those clamps. Get rid of All of them. On boats everything is double clamped and from doing that for so long I do it to my vehicles too. Try to find stainless steel.

ordered a new gasket kit as well as two of the hoses attached to it (that i can see from the front) from rovers north website. also picked up a box of hoses clamps from Autozone. will give it a shot once the parts are received. :smile: thanks to you all again and will keep you guys posted.
easy job for a weekend machanic?

very easy job for a weekend mechanic... the front hose may require you to unbolt the pump right in front of the intake.. 4 bolts, just don't move it far, just far enough to do the hose.

Job done with the help of my boss - Bill - the one with the knowledge and right tools. Only replaced the gasket unit and a few hose clamps. Thank you guys.
