I've done both, and been happy with both. Some LR dealers actually farm it out. However, you can't just take it anywhere - they have to be able to lock the car in to a certain mode to align it correctly (due to the air suspension I believe).

Correct, the Air Suspension has to be disabled, and they do "lock" the vehicle, so they can properly align the tires. Make sure you get the vehicle aligned with the tires you are going to use, otherwise you may have to get it re-aligned.

No no...I meant MY aftermarket 18" rims are ugly!!!

I currently have P285/60R-18's on my LR3 right now. The GoodYear Forterra Silent Armor versions. I haven't had any issues with rubbing or such at this point, and they did pretty well offroading. Gas mileage suffers every so slightly and of course the ride is different as is to be expected. I can take pics for anyone that wants to see them.
