I could not find those size Conti's listed on Tirerack; so I'm assuming you have the RRS size and that they are these http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Continental&tireModel=CrossContact+UHP.

Which means that they are not even M&S rated, hence zero ice traction. How LR justifies placing these as OE on anything is amazing.

Between your list, I would go with the Toyo's-have heard good things from my dealer who replaces the GY's with them.

Or these, which are a winter biased all weather tire. Vredestein says they can be used year round. Damn ****.

I've had General Grabbers on my '05 SE for several months now (about 8K miles) and have been very happy with them. They have much better traction than the stock goodyears, and have done better for me in snow and mud than the Scorpions. Noise hasn't been a problem on the highway. They were recommended by my local LR dealer, but I saved some cash by buying them through Discount Tire.

OK I picked up the Wintrack4Xtreme tires in Chicago and went through some the worst winter driving experiences in my life with absolutely no sliding. At first though, I headed out on the I80 West with the Conti tires which came with the car. Before I knew it, I was in a white out! White knuckling it past at least a hundred cars and tractor trailers wrecked on the side of the road and center medium, I held on tight as the wind threw me from the fast lane to the slow lane. I had no traction to speak of. Was not sure I was going to make it alive. Could not even see the exits available, the snow was coming down so thick.I finally pulled over for the night . Woke up to my LR3 with a good 8 inches of snow on it and -11* out ... So cold .... After warming up the ride for 20 min I jumped onto the 80 West to give it another try. As I was driving I was thinking how bad the roads are in this part of the country with all these huge holes in the ground , only realize later that the ground was frozen and what I had thought to be holes were breaks in the ice. Going less than 5 miles per hour, I barely missed a gas pump trying to pull in to fill up. On my way out of the station, I nearly hit the car in front of me at the light. I tried to stop giving my self over 20 feet to do so and the car just kept on moving. ....Finally found a place to switch the tires. On my way back home the Wintrac4Xetreme tires were flawless. I was doing the speed limit feeling very sure footed and in total control through the same scary stuff I had driven through a day earlier. Now, I was passing everything on the road from State Police to BMW X5's the tires held like velcro!..... I am very happy to know my family is safe and that we won't be having anymore near misses.

This a V rated M+S tire and it does well off road in the Sand, Mud and Snow I picked them for just over 200 each from these guys http://www.waukegantire.net/
