Transmission question

Mine is a 98 disco, upper end of motor has been refine cause had to do a head gasket job. The question I have is when I take off from a complete stop the transmission goes throught the gears.. its an automatic by the way... Shifter is in D so it goes thru the gears and it seems like the last gear that it needs to go thru it won't the tachometer stays at 2100-2500 rpms.... You know how sometimes when u lift off of the accelerator some granny will shift, all it dies is slows down and still won't shift that last gear....any ideas guys.....

Did you adjust your shift cable or change it in any way?

No sir I have not touched or even messed with it sir.. but u do understand what I'm asking that the trannie is doing right???

Not 100%.

It shifted after I passes 50 mph. So guess no problem
