I've never tried to take the cover off, but that's cool. Once you figure out the routine, it takes less than 20 seconds.

Exactly. Last year I had to remove a radio from our Jetta and I know I would have broken many parts if I hadn't found an excellent step-by-step report complete with pictures of each detailing what type of clip and where they were. I ended having to do this a couple more times and could do it in 25% of the time it took me originally. So when I do something like this, I try to convey the same type of info.

Those clips and plastic covers are sturdy once snapped in place. I actually used the one on the passenger side of my RRS to mount the bracket for the fire extinguisher.
