just looking to see what everyone had put on their LR3's. Anything aftermarket that you added on. Dealer items too. Im just curious and hope to get some info on parts that I may not know about. Links are helpful.

(ie, bullbar, rock sliders, performance parts, HL/TL guards, skidplates, ect..)

I have a rare coil spring LR3 (only 27 in USA), I have replaced the factory springs with 37% stiffer and 40mm taller springs from Pedders Suspension of Australia, which provide improved ride & handling, and a net 1.5” lift. Factory shocks/struts are still fitted, though I hope to replace everything with Donahoe racing 2.5” coilovers in the future. I have also replaced the base model V6 front brake discs with the larger V8 SE brake discs (they use the same calipers and pads).

I have not yet fitted a GPS system, but some day soon… I have fitted a Cobra W75X CB radio under the front passenger seat. Installed the LR Genuine KIT front bumper mounted driving lights (fitted by Inland Rovers).

Additional modification items:
1) Extensive custom paint throughout interior (silver trim pieces) and exterior (monochromatic white throughout and silver roof rails and front grill), all prepared by Premier Automotive Group (PAG)
2) Front 3 piece underbody protection skid plates (from British Pacific, fitted by West Coast Rovers).
3) Custom fabricated rock sliders and underbody skid plates from Rover Specialties (fitted by Inland Rovers).
4) Rear accessory power receptacle (LR genuine part, fitted by me!).
5) 2.5” seat rail extensions for driver’s seat (fabricated and installed by Franks Fab Shop).
6) Custom CB antenna mount under rear taillight assembly, with 4’ Firestik II antenna.
7) Hannibal Roof Rack on custom modified Thule roof rail load bars and locking pylon mounts (rack from Alantic British, customized Thule system by Rack`N Road).
8) Headlamp protective film from Alantic British
9) LR Genuine heavy duty rubber floor and cargo area matts.
10) LR Genuine Cup holder inserts from Expedition Exchange
11) Installed onboard air system - Viar 400H compressor

nice work on all that. its good to see people with originality that truly do some custom work on their vehicles. i havent really started yet but soon start messing with it trying not to void my warranty. its really difficult with land rover. for the past 10 years i worked at a parts shop and had everything at my fingertips. not one of my vehicles stayed stock for longer than a week. there is not much out for the LR3 let alone things that arent another small fortune. thats why im looking for ideas and im just curious. my lr3 is not a grocery getter, at least not till i let the lady drive it.

how much different are the new skid plates than the OE?
how do you like the protective film for the headlights?
how is the fit?
is it cloudy looking?
does it scratch easily?

thanks for posting. its getting the ideas brewing.

1. Expensive! Over $1000, plus more to have fitted
2. It's exactly what it says it is. It is thicker than I anticipated, but not excessively
3. Fit is excellent
4. Nope
5. Near impossible to scratch the film.
6. Film was well over a hundred dollars cheaper than the LR Geniune Headlamp protector grilles.

Just to chime in on the protective film. I got the 3M stuff (Clear Bra) installed and so far am very happy with it. Installer did a great job - front hood, grill, headlights, painted bumper, fog lights, behind door handles, door edges, etc. It is basically invisible except for the hood line, but that follows the hood buldge and hides it somewhat.

Just got the latest issue of Atlantic British Ldt. I see they have a performance air intake from Rover Accessories on pg. 8. I haven't seen any other performance upgrades - not even an exhaust. Maybe because its a fairly new vehicle....

I see Global Motorsports Group (gmgracing.com) has an aftermarket exhaust.

working at a parts shop for a long time let me see a lot of cool parts. i always did a lot of research on air intakes and filters. the intake offered by atlantic british is a disgrace to anyone who owns a landrover. unless it is not like the pictures it looks like a waste of time. an open filter for one would totally take away from the fact that the sealed airbox is pretty watertite. second all the aluminum pipe is doing is conducting more heat and probably taking in a lot of engine heat. you could also build that intake for about $100 and be lucky to see a 5-8hp gain at the motor.

the exhaust looks pretty nice but is probably more than a set of new shoes for my lr3. i really like the low sound and hidden exhaust on the lr3, but the exhaust is usually the single most useful upgrade on trucks that give the best power and efficiency gains. I think youll have a few more options within the next couple years. once the lr3 is more mainstream.

just my opinion, keeps the thoughts flowing.
