I justed picked up my new LR3 V8 SE on Friday, and what a great weekend to break it in cruising around in NJ\NY. 3 foot snow drifts couldn't stop it.

Has anyone replaced the factory wiper blades? The rubber strips are already coming off the metal strip on the front wipers.

If they are tearing without too much abuse, odds are you can get them replaced under warranty. At most a 10 minute job, if they have them in stock.

yeah, they came apart during the light snow we had saturday evening, no ice or major snow build-up. I had the dealer fedex me a new set.

I was just curious if someone had found something better.

I just replaced the blades on all three wipers on my '05 LR3, 5000 miles since early Dec. The rubber was peeling off and I was afraid they would start to scratch the windshield. The mfg books at the discount stores just show the 16" rear blade, Michlen with no listing for the fronts. A standard Anco, 22" blade works fine, clicks right on and there are even winter blades (very necessary in New England). I was surprised that I could get the right wiper blade for about $6.00 at Walmart after having a Disco II and needing to go to the dealer for every million $ blade.

i just bought a rear one at Autozone. i think it was a Bosch. it didn't look like the same connector but it snapped on and works fine. my old one wasn't coming apart but it did not wipe worth a crap.

The ends on the wiper arms arm a standard width and design, (unlike Series II). I've tried blades from NAPA, and they fit okay, the only problem is that they didn't meet the curve @ the far right of the windshield. It didn't hurt performance, just looked funny.

Yeah, I was wondering about that. Our blades have unique tips that kind of float over the shape of the windshield. Are those a LR design ? Can we get that style anywhere else?

The OEM blades are the ones most European manufacturers are using. Un-godly expensive to replace. But unlike other makers, Land Rover uses the old style connector on the wiper arm so we can use just about any aftermarket replacement blade on the LR3. Which is great.

BTW, they make an aftermarket "OEM" style replacement blade. I've seen them at Pep Boys.

I just picked up set of Bosch Icon blades for the front, and the Bosch Microedge for the rear. They work very well, plus they hug the curves of the windshield without any streaks. If you decide to go this route, make sure you get the A&B blades as they are designed for the drivers and passenger side. 22' for each side.
