Check the toyo proxes ST II. I put in 26,000 miles on them with minimal thread wear. I mostly drive on smooth surface but had no issues on wet ; snow or offroad.

hello

hello
if you are going off roading in the sand (not mud or rocks) then i think the michlin synchrono is the best choise you have , because sand (specially dry sand ) needs sleek tyres but if you going in the mud or above the rocks then the good year Mtr will be the best choise , but notice the MTRs are not very good ON road :stupid: (not that on the sand surfice you need to lower your tyre pressure up 15 psi) or you will get stuck no matter what vechle youre driving man

Just picked up a set of Toyo Open Country H/T tires, $1025 out the door from Discount Tire in San Diego. Will see how they handle...a major change from tires that barely had 1/16 on them.

Now that you've had the tires for over a month, how do you like them? I am mostly car stupid, so needing to replace 3 of my 4 tires, I've been reading reviews on different tires, trying to figure out what to buy. These seem to get good reviews plus have a reasonable price at $246 in Metro Atlanta (unlike the nearly $400 I paid for my GY out-of-state, emergency purchase from Sears).

I drive mostly highway and in-town, and I make 1k round trips to FL (to see kids and granddaughters) about 6 to 8 times a year. The only off-road my LR3 sees is dirt road, gravel/dirt parking, or the rare occasion of getting aggravated and driving over a curb/grassy or concrete area/curb (don't ask!).

TIA

Just to add on topic , regarding a 19 inch tires, it seems that COOPER Zeon LTZ are now available in stock size which is 255/55/19.some may not agree , that this is sufficient for off road applications,(sidewall height) but it this after all way better than wrangler HPs and suitable for folks, who DON'T wont to go OVERSIZE route. They certainly look better , than most of the tires on the market. Just my 0.2 cents..

I think this is great....especially if the price is right. They will be SUFFICIENT off-road and much better as an all-around tire than anything else you can get in that size.

I may be in for a set if they are in the same price range as the 18" version; but I'd still swap 'em out for my 32" MT/Rs when it's time to get off asphalt.

I can't find the price yet, all I know , that this size shows up on their redesigned website.
I also have 2 sets of rims: 18 and 19s and would like to purchase stack size in the future for all around daily driving(if only Nokian WG R2s wear out quicker: over 35 000 and still going strong).will see..
Yes , they WILL be sufficient, but i was curious about their another AT tire which is DISCOVERER AT3, it shows better off road capabiloty , than Zeons, regarding to their own website, do anybody have any experience with it?
Also Mickey Thomson Baja STZ looks rather similar to ZEONs, as it is made by Cooper as well...I wonder , if anybody runs them too..

I ll chime in, I have these Cooper Zeons on my Chevy Silverado 4x4 in 33's with 20's. They are awesome tires, they work great off road and have very good on road manners and look awesome. I will definately consider these for our lr3 when our toyo proxes wear out. These coopers should be priced lower than most others too, for my truck they were $80 less than comparable hankook atm rf10's and i like the coopers better too, have had both on different vehicles.

thorgal how do those NOKIANs do in the snow? I've been considering them for my next set of street tires. Good to hear about the mileage you're getting out of them, too.

...and how are they on wet pavement?

As you may know, one side of the tire was designed to perform well in winter conditions and it does it superbly. I never got stuck in the snowy conditions, especially during infamous day after Christmas blizzard.i took a joy ride in the morning when wind was still blowing 60 MPH and it was still snowing.Plows where stuck in route 18 and 9, fire trucks, not to mention passenger cars and the rest of the SUV world. every exit and entrance was blocked by either one or several cars buried in the 36 inches of fresh pow.I succeeded , was able to plow thru un plowed parking lot bombing , thru 4 feet high snow barrier , first .It was scary, but fun driving with , of course, a solid dose of cautiousness and care.
...and how are they on wet pavement?
Wet pavement is no match for them as they where designed for this purpose, especially SLUSH. So over all pretty quiet and fuel saving tire( compering to AT tires)One thing i learned about this tire , though, NO match for MUD and sharp gravel .
i got stuck in mud pretty quickly, while off roading in NJ state forest, pretty embarrassing experience, knowing, that these places was previously NO problem with GY Silent Armors. I had to winch myself out as I was alone for the ride. Also , recently , I punctured two rear tires, as I was in Maine forest , driving over gravel roads. Sharp stones drilled thru carcass and were pretty difficult to remove it , prior plugging. This was actually the first time , that I took a tire repair kit along for the ride, go figure..:stupid::rolleyes:WR G2 attracts stones, like HBO vampires.

i know that you are particular about questions and answers , so I want downstairs and measured remaining thread, and i have 7 mm left out of 12, so i will probably survive upcoming winter season with no problem at all. After that will see...i am a big fan of change so will try something else, like Zeons in stack size...or not...
