Greetings all! I’ve just purchased a 2003 LR Discovery 2 SE and am stoked to join the community. I’m based in Bend, Oregon and looking forward to learning from your experience and sharing my own.

I’m planning to work with Bend British on some of the bigger mods, but also doing many of them myself.

First up (after the routine updates) is adding an Alpine iLX-F309 receiver.

Okay, I’ve done an oil change and am gathering all the bits for fixing up the things that need attention.

Took it in to the local Rover mechanic and he called it a “unicorn” based on its excellent condition. One owner, and low miles for a 2003.

They did recommend replacing the head gasket, though this was done back at about 60k miles according to the service records. And the power steering fluid looked gunky. Both were planned for service.

I’ve got a few minor cosmetic thinks to care for. Ordered a rear backup light where the one in the bumper is cracked up, and new leather gaiters for the parking brake and transfer case shifter. And new bulbs for the AC system backlight.

Other than that, it’s looking good. I’m looking forward to giving it a good wash this weekend — the snow is finally starting to melt off.

Where did it spend the time with that owner? How's the under side look? You get salts on that side I'm pretty sure but the region does in winter so you ought to consider an undercoating specifically either Waxoyl or Beoshield. You can do them yourself but the Boeing developed one is probably easier for DIY.

I have a 2004 with 89,000 miles that I bought in 2006 with less than 20k. Recently I had a rover shop do the Waxoyl which gets inside the frame and everywhere. These older rovers need the protection much more than the lr3 forward.

Also, there are some custom replacement and prevention parts as well as basic maintenance items at Falconworks in AZ. You have to look on the side of the website to link to the sales or something. Here;s the link, note the domain name but the site Banner. http://www.jewellamberoil.com/sales/

Nice looking Disco.

You should have this bookmarked too if you don't already. A few cool things like brass wheel replacement for the plastic D1 window regulator that always breaks. A D2 kit to solve the "3 amigos" cause and the LR3 a bras T fitting to replace a plastic one that is prone to breaking at coolant Y fitting near radiator.
