20inch wheel Offset required? 275/55R20 KO2's

Reading on other forums, some folks are saying that a size of 275/65R18 or 265/60R18 will require a permanent lift, which not opposed to but there is argument that constant alignment and other issues will arise from fitting those sizes?

Diego at Mudtech 4x4 sent some pics that these sizes work on their 18’s but will require some trimming ... see below.

Questions? Can anyone shed light on the alignment issues or any other geometry issues that may arise?

Will trimming the frame slightly degrade the integrity of the frame structure?

100% bullshitt. Hell, I didn't need the strut spacers until going past 5 years of use on the 275/65-18 up to a 285/70-18 but a 275/70-18 would probably do best with the strut spacer as well.

Please be reminded, the rod BS is not a "lift" per-say while the strut spacer is a pure lift that sets the bump stop lower so that a larger tire cannot grind into the fender liners. Rods alone cannot do that , however rods are required to set up the spacer correctly within the computer settings.

Also, 265/65-18 fits fine if it's the BFG as I said already.... due to BFG running small. Same spec Michelin MS2 or defender for example would likely rub those plastic corners but maybe not the inside of the rear fender liner. A 275/65-18 will definitely rub the rear fender liner though.

It's possible that on an lr4, and more importantly, the slightly wider offset required for the compomotive wheel to fit, is what might cause a rub at those few plastic bumper corners, but the rear fender liner issue is not made any different by the wider offset due to the rear wheels not turning in a swing like the front wheels.

Make sense?

If you want the 31.7" 275/65-18 BFG at ko2, then yes, all the modifications will be required. I think it's worth the hassle though.

If you get a different front bumper, the front rub points will go away because they're usually designed with a little more clearance.

I ran the supercharged RR 20" wheels for a few years with Toyo mud terrains in the same size. Recently converted to compo's. I can sell you my spacers from Bora. Wheeling was certainly a bit more challenging but I'm also more slow/careful in general. I swapped to compo's primarily because I was tired of replacing gouged wheels, even though they are cheap, and because of the vibrations or challenges of solving vibrations introduced by wheel spacers. You'll want to get the spring spacers from Lucky 8 to prevent damage to your wheel wells if you have a suspension fault while driving. Or learn the hard way.

--which is why I upgraded to Redbourne 20" x 9.5" wheels from the OEM 20" x 8.5" wheels when I swapped the stock 255/55-20 street tires on my D5 for 285/50-20 Nitto Terra Grappler G2s.

yeah that's the size i had on my 9.5x20 stormer wheels at the beginning.
