Boy those two LR's sure do look *****. Funny how the eye gets trained to see something. If it were never there I would not think twice about it, but somehow something seems missing. I am sure a few weeks without it and that feeling would go away though.

One of the few vehicles where'd i'd agree with you. To much real estate on the hood. That said, we have a black Lux with the black out kit. If we didn't, I would have switched to the black lettering for sure.

Removing lettering or changing it isn't so rare . I've seen many vehicles ( not just LR/RR ) where the rear-specification is blank because they're not HSE and the owner doesn't like the down-spec lettering . Common to see this on Merc . I've a 2007 LR3 and prefer LAND ROVER to Discovery , written on the bonnet/hood . There were those who made words out of DISCOVERY ie . VERYDISCO , but that's a bit silly ...........

funny, i remove the lettering from all my vehicles because they the opposite of "down-spec". i have no interest in impressing others with a badge but some people do by "up-badging" either way i just feel it is a cleaner look without any additional badges than the marque itself.

I debadged my top of the line suburban and it looked great. It depends on the vehicle. I don't think my super duty diesel would look good debadged nor do I think our LR$ with the black pack would. But it's certainly an individual taste thing.

I’d like to replace the LR4 badge with a proper discovery 4 badge on the rear of mine.

exactly, it all comes down to person preference. your car, your cash, your call but in the same vein i never understood why people would "up-badge" because the people you're trying to impress don't care and those that would care know you're a poseur.

I agree. In some cases, well, one case, I think the upbadging is in good fun and shows a sense of humor. You cannot see it in the photo, but there are Cadillac emblems on each side of the rear pillars as well. It was an older couple, so you know it was just damn funny to them to do this.

Debating on swapping the lettering to Discovery or going ***** with a "debadged" look on the hood to match the rear of the vehicle. Has anyone on here removed the letters from the hood? If so could you post a photo or two?

LOL...many of us with a D-5 are looking or have changed it from Discovery to LAND ROVER ....
