18” EVOs mounted this morning with 265/65 Falken ATs and 1.5” Johnson Rods. Really happy with how it turned out :biggrin:

Really interested to her how you end up rating the Falkens. I have a set of their 21” on a sports car and have been very happy. They have provided great bang for the buck for sure.

Keep us posted!

I’m new to the LR4 scene but not off-roading. Been in the Toyota world for the last few years building trucks and SUVs, the majority of which have run Falken ATs or MTs.

Great tires. No complaints with them. I like BFG ATs and MTs as well but it’s nice that the Falkens run true to size, have a slightly more aggressive AT tread design and cost less.

My reservation about the Falkens would be the load rating. Not much more than an XL, are they?

Correct. The 255/55r19 Michelin’s Premier LTX that came on my truck had a side wall load rating of 2403 whereas the 265/65r18 Falkens are rated at 2601. The E-Rated KO2s come in at 3305.

So yes an E-Rated Falken would have been ideal but at a load rating of 2601 per corner I don’t think I’ll have a problem. I have these set at 41psi all around right now and get very little sidewall bulge. I may end up playing with the air pressures more but for now they seem to be doing well.

Admire the effort for the 17" wheels, and they look fantastic... but I am sitting here thinking about my driving over mountain ranges fully loaded for a long trip, with the whole family on board. Descending, even with engine braking my V8.... I'll stick with the big ass brakes and 18" :D

My lr3 weighs 8200-8400 lbs on the big summer trips and I travel in the mountains as well. The tire grip is going to matter a hell of a lot more than the slight difference in rotor size for emergency braking. I've never had the slightest issue on long descents when you would worry about heat build up but it could be the way I drive.

I actually swapped mine to allow factory 17" which means using the rotors and carrier from the NAS v6. I did however go with the slotted EBC to help with rain.

@jwest

Did you actually find a set of the 17" LR3 wheels in the USA? I have looked before, but all I could find was European options for big $$$ and big $$$.

And I mean big. I'm not turned off by importing, but I think I was at around $4K when I threw in the towel and got my Compos.
